We were having serious doubts about whether or not the playhouse was going to be big enough to put a loft inside, even with us making the walls a bit taller for more head room, but I'm so glad that we went ahead with it because the girls are so excited about it. It will definitely be a special little place that only they can get to, and they love that.
It took a lot of thinking in the wood section at Home Depot and 3 separate trips for wood to figure out the best way to build it so that it had adequate support and looked decent. Next step is to build the railing and ladder, which we already have the wood for, and needs to be done pronto since the girls are dying to play up there.
Tom also added a bench under the loft and a trap door under that. The trap door is Jack's favorite part of the playhouse - it's just his size, lol. He must have gone in and out of it 20 times yesterday.
There's still lots to do - railings/ladder, peek holes, a window in the loft, finish the outside trim, painting, but it goes fast and we can accomplish a lot in an afternoon. The weather was so nice here this past weekend, that after our trip to Menards on Saturday, Tom and his brothers took the kids fishing and then we grilled a big dinner instead of moving the swingset. This entire week looks to be more of the same - sunny and 80. Happy fall! :)
